Transfer of Ownership
When selling a Highland Pony, ownership transfer must be registered with the Society. This ensures accurate records and protects both buyers and sellers.
30-Day Requirement
The new owner must, within 30 days of purchasing, return the passport to the Society together with details of the name and address of the new owner.
Required Documents
When selling a Highland Pony, ownership transfer must happen immediately upon sale completion. Submit the following:
- Completed transfer form (signed by both seller and buyer)
- Endorsed Registration Certificate (signed on reverse)
- Passport
- Appropriate fee payment
Payment Options
Transfer fees can be paid via BACS, cheque, or PayPal. For current fees, please check the fees page.

Special Circumstances
Pony in Transit
If another individual transports the pony, the passport should accompany the animal. Submit the Registration Certificate, transfer form, and fee to HPS with a note indicating the passport will follow upon arrival.

Loan Transfers
Mares loaned for breeding require completion of a loan transfer form, signed by both lender and borrower. This must be completed before any offspring can be registered under the borrower's prefix.

Both seller and buyer should sign the transfer form at the time of sale.
Endorse the Registration Certificate
The seller signs the reverse of the Registration Certificate to confirm the transfer.
